The volume of Santorum’s total statements (VoiceShare) went from 25% in the beginning of March down to 16% in the early days of April. In this same time period Romney’s VoiceShare increased by 12%. With wins in Illinois, Wisconsin, D.C. and Maryland, Romney has increasingly been treated as the inevitable nominee. Obama’s coverage volume increased 12% in March, putting him 5% above Santorum at the end of April in a race he is not even officially part of yet. In the wake of Wisconsin primary, has the media already decided that it will be Obama-Romney come November? Such dismissal by the media increases pressure on the Santorum campaign to either pull out or find a way to recapture VoiceShare, and make this a race again.
