Prior to Romney picking Paul Ryan to be his GOP VP running mate over the weekend, Ryan had not been covered very much in election coverage on television broadcast. Statements from Ryan were amplified only by FOX’s Special Report with Bret Bair, CBS’ Evening News and Face the Nation, and FOX News Sunday. In other major political talk shows Ryan was neither brought on as a guest or had any statements amplified.

However, Ryan was discussed as a topic in other talk shows and news programs. . In content that mention “Paul Ryan”, FOX’s Special Report with Bret Baier still has had the highest volume out of any television show. MSNBC’s Hardball discussed Paul Ryan frequently but they never brought him on as a guest or replayed any of his statements on the show. The same goes for NBS’s Meet the Press, CNN’s John King USA and other programs. Therefore, while statements from Paul Ryan were not widely amplified by television programs prior to his VP nomination, many shows were discussing him as a topic.
